I have belatedly realized that the Substack format is better suited to newsletters than to the piecemeal encyclopedia that I have been posting. However, my areas of interest—pension systems and long-term investing—are slow-moving topics that don’t regularly produce much news. Having used this channel for two weeks I have been thinking about what I want to do with it. It will still be a repository of random topics, but I will try to structure the flow to be kinder to you, readers.

• Posts twice a week, Tuesday/Wednesday and Friday.

• In English unless targeted at a Dutch audience.

• Series of posts that develop a topic in depth.

• Each post will still only be a few hundred words, possibly with some formulas.

• Titles refer to the series that a post extends.

• Subtitles will try to be funny.

This means that I need to do some better planning. It also means that the content of new series will overlap with posts I’ve already written. It might also give you a chance to digest a topic I’m discussing, and respond with your well-considered comments before I jump to the next topic.

The subjects of the series are the same as those I started with:

• Pension systems, and in particular new Dutch pension law;

• Balance sheet management and investment solutions;

• Governance of (investment) decision-making;

• Long term investing and related themes.
